Does the discount apply to both my Sonnet home and auto policies?

Depending on your group, some discounts will apply to both your auto and property policies, while others may apply only to one. If you’re a member of multiple groups, you can only apply one discount per policy.

How do I know if my discount has been applied?

During your home or auto quote, start typing and select your group from the dropdown, then enter your group ID. You’ll see a “Discount applied” notification appear throughout the quote flow. We’ll use the information you’ve provided to verify you are a member and automatically apply your discount.

How do I qualify for a group discount?

To qualify for a group discount, you or your spouse need to be an alumni or a student of an eligible Canadian University or College, member of an eligible association, an affinity partner or an employee/retiree of a sponsored company. When you add your discount, we’ll also ask for a group ID. We’ll use the information you’ve provided to confirm your eligibility.

How do I add my Tangerine discount?

Adding your Tangerine discount is easy. 

  1. Look for the Group Discount section when you’re getting a home or auto quote.
  2. Click the checkbox that says, “I’m a Tangerine Bank Client.” We’ll ask for the phone number associated with your Tangerine account to verify if you’re eligible.
  3. Click Continue
  4. That’s it! We’ve applied your Tangerine discount to your quote. If we can’t verify your eligibility, then the discount will be removed.

I already have a Sonnet insurance policy. How do I add my Tangerine discount?

If you’re already a Sonnet customer, you can easily add your Tangerine discount online in a few steps:

  1. Log in to your account.
  2. Select the policy you’d like to add a Group Discount to.
  3. Select Add group Discount.
  4. In the screen that appears, click the box that says, “I’m a Tangerine Bank Client.” We’ll ask for the phone number associated with your Tangerine account to confirm your eligibility.
  5. Click Add Group.
  6. Review your policy change and any impact to the price of your policy over the remaining policy term. Click Update Policy.
  7. Your policy has been updated with your Tangerine discount. Review your updated policy payment schedule for changes to the amount of your payments.

Your Tangerine discount will automatically be applied to the selected policy. If we’re unable to verify your eligibility, then the discount will be removed.

If you have multiple policies with Sonnet, repeat the steps above for each policy to add a qualifying group discount.

First, set up your Sonnet insurance policy payments with your Tangerine Credit Card.

  1. Choose easy pay with monthly payments.
  2. Select credit card as the payment method.
  3. Next, fill in your Tangerine Credit Card details.
  4. Review your payment details and click Review and Buy.

Then, follow these steps to start earning 2% Money-Back Rewards with Tangerine.
