“I would say personal experience, like most entrepreneurs. My co-founder and I had moved quite a bit through work – we had a lot of opportunities that led us to Montreal, Edmonton, etc. So, we just realized that having to go through the burdensome task of changing your address through all of your providers was pretty painful. All of the utility transfers, things that get lost in the mail – you name it, and we just thought, people don’t need that added stress on top of moving. ”

“As Quebecers we move a lot, so launching in this market made sense. It’s a market that we know very well, and we knew that a big chunk of the population moves on the same day, July 1st. So, for us it was a good way to pilot MovingWaldo with all the movers in Quebec, which allowed us to scale it to the rest of Canada. Moving Day was a good way to test the technology and get feedback from users. ”

“It’s so important nowadays, because people are realizing that there’s a better way to do things. I know it’s probably been like that for a while, but now we have technology as an important factor. Even with older industries, like insurance, they need to modernize and simplify these tasks to make them easier and faster for people. Just like the moving industry, things need to be built consumer-first because that’s how you’re really going to have an impact on people’s lives. ”

“Well, I just think people are busier. There’s more pressure on people’s personal lives, on their professional lives. People will jump at the chance to make annoying or mundane tasks easier for themselves. Like shopping for insurance – or even reading their insurance documents – and having to change your address (with all of your providers that are easy to forget). We have the technology to help people through things they don’t like doing, while also saving them time. ”

I was young, and renting a place at the time and I really had no idea that I needed tenant insurance. “I did! And as a tech entrepreneur, I really wanted to challenge your site. I wanted to see how fast and efficient it really was, so I actually got a quote while I was walking to this interview!
